Alaves vs Leganes
Spain – LaLiga
Date: Friday, 13 December 2019
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Mendizorrotza (Vitoria-Gasteiz).
Friday night clash may not be the most delicious of games this season in La Liga but it is a big one for the visitors who now have the run of decent supplies they need to take advantage of if they put themselves in a position to compete for survival in the second half this season. Leganes won for the second time this season in matchday 16, but will not be easy in Mendizorrotza.
Alaves has again looked quite solid at home this season with only Sevilla and Real Madrid to win at Vitoria and in both cases only with one goal. They have won 4 of their other six at home though but do not come into this match after Semester II collapsed in Granada last weekend as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat against the new kids. To make matters worse they ended the game with nine men as Mubarak Wakaso and Victor Laguardia saw red to leave both players suspended for this one.
That should make it a little bit easier to Leganes have some joy in the final third of the game. They have much against Celta Vigo last time despite having the ability to remotely Oscar Rodriguez to thank for their two goals in a 3-2 victory. It was their first victory since the appointment of Javier Aguirre and Mexico next task will be to try to find a cure for the struggle Leganes' on the road with just two points from seven away games so far this term. The South Madrid small fish will only 2 points from the safety zone they are to win this game and there will be a real sense that they are on the right track to turn their season around.
We are unlikely to see much change to this game from the visitors but Roberto Rosales could come back on the right wing following the suspension. While Alaves will need to make at least two changes due to suspension Laguardia and a broken leg sustained by Tomas Pina in Granada last weekend.
Prediciton
Alaves have conceded five goals in their last two outings LaLiga, Asier Garitano defensive record which will need to address quickly.
The hosts have, however, only to lose in Mendizorroza against Sevilla and Real Madrid so far this campaign.
Leganes bounced back with a win last time, scraping to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo.
Prediction: Deportivo Alaves 2 1 Leganes
