TEAM NEWS
NORTH MACEDONIA
North Macedonia have competed well in Group G. picking up 11 points from their nine matches played so far and while they have no chance of automatic qualification, they will be in the play-offs next March after winning their Nations League group.
They were beaten 2-1 by Austria on Saturday but they had to do without three suspended players in Boban Nikolov, Visar Musliu and Ilija Nestorovski with the trio all candidates to come back into the starting eleven.
They will be without Leeds United winger Ezgjan Alioski and AEK forward Ivan Trichkovski who are both injured but head coach Igor Angelovski will expect his team to take this match seriously to build some confidence ahead of the play-offs.
ISRAEL
Israel had high hopes of an automatic qualifying spot after picking up seven points from their opening three games but they have picked up just four from their last six games and their last chance of reaching EURO 2020 will come in the play-offs next March now.
They are coming off a 2-1 loss at home to Poland last time out and similar to North Macedonia, they will want to gain some confidence ahead of the play-offs next March so they are unlikely to rotate too much here.
Defender Loai Taha was forced off in the first half of that game through injury so they may decide not to risk him and that could hand an opening to Celtic defender Hatem Elhamid to add to his five caps.
North Macedonia vs Israel Prediction
Israel had found the back of the net in their latest away game, for which they had taken on Austria. In the 34th minute, the guests went ahead, but the joy was short-lived. Seven minutes later, the hosts hit back and later added two more in the latter half.
Counterparts Macedonia meanwhile made most of their home advantage, the last time they played hosts to a team. Locking horns with Slovenia, they had to wait till the second half to open their account, but open they did.
Two goals in the 50th and 68th minute put the home team well in place for the three points, and though the guests did try to make a late fight-back, the defense of the home team was vigilant enough to safeguard their lead.
As of now, the current form tips the scales in favor of Macedonia. They have remained unbeaten in 17 of their previous 21 fixtures, and at home, lost just twice in their last ten appearances. Importantly, the team won seven of their preceding nine home games, whereas, their opposite number had one victory from their previous five match-ups, and on the road, lost their prior three matches, and eight of their former ten.
Consequentially, count on Macedonia to make a great effort for the three points this Tuesday.
However, taking into consideration what’s at stake for Israel, the drawn reverse fixture with a 1-1 scoreline, and Macedonia’s struggles in historical h2h clashes, the chances are very high for goals to come at either end of the pitch.
